Overview
Premier Lotteries Ireland (PLI) manages one of the most complex and widely distributed retail networks in Ireland, with thousands of agents operating across multiple retail environments including PostPoint, Payzone, Riposte, and Select Retailer channels.
PLI engaged ERS to modernise and streamline their retailer-facing digital ecosystem by developing a secure Retailer Portal and Mobile WebApp. This new platform would consolidate training, compliance, rewards, and account management into a single intuitive experience—accessible from any device, fully manageable in Umbraco, and scalable for future operational needs.
The Challenge
PLI required a solution that could address a wide range of operational challenges:
- Fragmented communication and training materials across multiple retailer types.
- Manual onboarding and communications processes that relied heavily on email and offline workflows.
- Limited ability to control and personalise access to content based on retailer type or user role.
- A need for push notifications and real-time engagement on mobile devices.
- Growing demand for transparency around retailer reward schemes such as Star Mark.
The new solution needed to streamline administrative tasks, enhance retailer self-service, and provide a dynamic, secure communications hub for PLI’s nationwide retailer network.
Our Solution
ERS designed and delivered a fully integrated Retailer Portal and Mobile WebApp that brought together training, compliance, rewards, user management and communications into one cohesive platform.
ERS also modernised PLI’s onboarding and communication processes by integrating a custom email management interface directly into Umbraco. Administrators can now send welcome emails, account updates or password resets without relying on external email tools.
Training and compliance materials were another cornerstone of the development. ERS created a flexible content delivery system that allows PLI to publish training items to specific retailer groups depending on their terminal type or operational profile.
Retailer engagement was further enhanced through the introduction of mobile push notifications for users of the iOS and Android WebApp. Notifications can be generated automatically when new content is uploaded or manually created for more targeted messaging.
Conclusion
The PLI Lottery Retailer Portal represents a major step forward in empowering lottery retailers across Ireland. By combining strong UX, smart automation, and granular control tools, ERS delivered a solution that simplifies PLI’s operations while improving retailers’ access to the resources they need to succeed.
